Let’s take a trip down memory lane back to the 1920s. This was a time before GPS, radar, or any reliable sort of navigational aid, and America’s first airmail pilots carried the nation’s mail through the Allegheny Mountains. The pilots called it the “Hell Stretch," known for its dangerous combination of steep terrain, rapidly changing weather, freezing precipitation, and dense valley fog.
Choose to fly out of either Elmira Airport (ELM), Ithaca Airport (ITH), Wilkes-Barre/Scraton Airport (AVP), or Binghamton Airport (BGM). Expect full coverage, lots of mail to be delivered, and anything out of the ordinary. Welcome to The Hell Stretch.
